Natrelle® Breast Implants
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. The longer patients have them, the greater the chance they will develop complications, which may require more surgery. Breast implants have been associated with a cancer of the immune system called breast implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). Some patients have died from BIA-ALCL. Patients have also reported a variety of systemic symptoms such as joint pain, muscle aches, confusion, chronic fatigue, autoimmune diseases, and others.

Natrelle® Breast Implants are for breast augmentation and revision surgery in women at least 22 years old for silicone-filled implants and women at least 18 years old for saline-filled implants.

You should not get breast implants if you currently have an active infection, untreated breast cancer or precancer, or are pregnant or nursing. Tell your doctor about any conditions you have, any medications you are taking, and any planned cancer treatments. Breast implantation is likely not a one-time surgery.

Having implants removed and not replaced may lead to permanent cosmetic changes of the breasts. Breast implants may affect breastfeeding. Gel implants may rupture without symptoms, so periodic imaging after surgery is recommended.

Key complications are reoperation, implant removal, implant rupture, implant deflation with saline-filled implants, and severe capsular contracture.

Talk to your doctor for more information.

The use of Natrelle® Breast Implants is restricted to licensed physicians who provide information to patients about the risks and benefits of breast implant surgery.

What are the breast implant options at TOPS Houston?

Silicone

Silicone implants are the most commonly used implants at TOPS Houston. Silicone implants feel more natural. Silicone implants typically have less rippling around the edges, making them appear more natural. Many of our Houston patients choose silicone implants for this reason.

Saline

As the name suggests, saline breast implants are filled with a saline solution. When filled to the recommended level, saline implants sometimes have ripples around the edges, making them slightly visible under the skin. At TOPS Houston, we fill our saline breast implants 10-15% more to avoid this rippling and provide a more natural look. We also offer the Ideal implant, which is a silicone implant that looks and feels more natural than the traditional saline implants.

Your plastic surgeon will help you consider the benefits of each type of implant to ensure that you make a decision that you are truly comfortable with.

How Can Breast Implant Surgery at TOPS Houston Help You?

Our Houston patients have a variety of reasons for seeking breast implant surgery, but ultimately, they all have one thing in common: a desire to feel more confident in their body. No matter the reason for seeking implants, TOPS Houston plastic surgeons strive to understand your goals and help you meet them through breast implant surgery. Some of the most common reasons patients come to use for this procedure are:

Size and Shape

The most common reason women seek breast implant surgery is to increase the size of their bust. Whether you’re looking to go up one cup size or several, TOPS Houston will help you safely achieve the look you desire. Many of our patients are also self-conscious about the shape of their breasts. In addition to adjusting to the desired size, we can help correct asymmetrical, narrow, or tuberous breasts, offering a new natural, beautiful shape.

After Pregnancy

After pregnancy and nursing, many women experience breast deflation or sagging. If you are self-conscious about the appearance of your postpartum body, we can help you return to your desired figure through a number of cosmetic procedures. In the event you’ve experienced significant sagging, your doctor may suggest a breast lift (mastopexy) with or without implants.

After Mastectomy

A mastectomy can be an emotionally and physically trying experience for any woman. While some women choose to maintain their post-procedural appearance, others prefer to seek implants to restore their shape, figure, or personal image. At TOPS Houston, we treat all patients with compassion and sensitivity to ensure that no matter the reason you seek cosmetic surgery, you are well cared for both physically and emotionally.

What other procedures are often performed with breast implant surgery?

Breast implants are often done as part of a “mommy makeover,” which may include a tummy tuck, liposuction, lower body lifts, or vaginal rejuvenation. If you’re interested in undergoing other procedures along with your breast implants, performing them at the same time can minimize overall recovery time. Together, you and your plastic surgeon can determine the best timeline for your procedures.

What to Expect at Your Initial Consultation for Breast Implant Surgery

At your initial consultation, your surgeon will:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of your goals and desires for surgery
  • Perform an anatomical exam
  • Discuss the risks, benefits, and options for breast implant surgery. Together, you’ll determine what types of incision site, placement, implant, and size are right for you.
  • Give you an information packet about your procedure and recovery

What to Expect from Recovery after Breast Implants at TOPS Houston

Thanks to variety of pain management techniques, TOPS Houston breast implant patients are able to recover with little pain and minimal narcotic use. As long as you follow post-operative instructions carefully, you can generally expect to return to work in one to two weeks and return to moderate and gentle exercise in four to six weeks.

Your TOPS Houston surgeon will contact you after surgery to make sure you are recovering normally and answer your questions and concerns.
