What can you expect on the day of your fat grafting procedure in Houston, Texas?
On the day of your surgery, if you are undergoing general anesthesia, your TOPS plastic surgeon will meet you in the preoperative area to go over any last minute questions or concerns you may have. Your plastic surgeon will make preoperative markings and will perform extensive checks and attention to detail ensuring high quality care and safety. You will meet the anesthesiologist and their team as well as the members of our plastic surgery operative team. During the procedure, our plastic surgeons pay meticulous attention to detail and work as a team to ensure a great result with a focus on safety and quality. Your family will be updated of your status periodically, and will be able to talk with the physician one-on-one after the fat grafting and any other procedures are completed.
Fat grafting alone typically takes 1 hour. If you are undergoing fat grafting to the face under local anesthesia, you will be greeted at The Oaks Plastic Surgery clinic and escorted to our procedure room. You will be given a strong topical anesthetic to minimize or eliminate any pain during the injection of local anesthetic. Your TOPS plastic surgeon will then make precise surgical markings. Your surgeon will then harvest fat using liposuction techniques, process the fat in a sterile fashion, and transfer the fat into the appropriate areas of the face. A dressing will be placed where the fat was harvested, and you will be able to leave The Oaks Plastic Surgery Clinic shortly after the procedure has been completed. Again, this procedure usually takes about 1 hour; however, plan to be at The Oaks Plastic Surgery Clinic for approximately two hours for preparation and short recovery.
