A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to lift the skin and soft tissues of the
face for a youthful look that lasts for years. Dr. Sawan at The Oaks Plastic Surgery
uses a variety of surgical techniques, depending on your anatomy and aesthetic
goals.
Facelift surgery (rhytidectomy) often involves well-concealed incisions along or into
the hairline by the temples, down and around the ear lobule, behind the ear, and
sometimes, into the back hairline. The facial skin and underlying support system
called the SMAS are then lifted and tightened, and excess skin is removed.
Facelift surgery is often paired with a neck lift
to elevate and re-drape the skin and tissues of the neck, providing more
comprehensive rejuvenation. Depending on your anatomy, liposuction or other techniques may also be
used to enhance your neckline. Your facelift may also be combined with fat transfer to restore volume to
the face that is commonly lost with age.
At The Oaks Plastic Surgery, facelifts are typically performed under general
anesthesia. Patients usually go home the same day or stay one night in the hospital
or surgery center and go home the following morning.
